Reconstruction of the painting "Napad wilków"

The Foundation, together with Nicolaus Copernicus University in Toruń, is recreating a lost painting by Alfred Wierusz-Kowalski.

For over a hundred years, the monumental painting "Napad wilków" ("The Wolf Attack") by Alfred Wierusz-Kowalski, most probably lost at the turn of 1919 and 1920, remained known only from archival photographs, sketches and descriptions.

The breakthrough came in 2025, when the Alfred Wierusz-Kowalski Foundation, in cooperation with a team from the Department of Technology and Techniques of Fine Arts at the Faculty of Fine Arts of Nicolaus Copernicus University in Toruń, under the direction of Prof. Elżbieta Basiul, took the initiative to reconstruct the lost work.
